13 - Drinking his soul
The song lyrics here are very direct. There is no alluding or imagery. It is looking at alcoholism, how it builds walls, the destructive &
often fatal crashes that lay ahead & how it isolates you.Musically this started with a gently picked melody, but in recording gained strummed guitar & a picked counter melody played on a Greek Bazuki.
Over the top of the song is a deep veined electro fuzz violin being allowed to run rampage throughout the entire tune giving the song what I believe is its essence. In all I personally enjoy the collage of all the different melodies going on at once.Drinking his soul by John Fisher - lyrics
Friends say goodbye
And you try to stay dry
But in your mind
You build these four walls
Hide the shakes and the shivers
But your mind won’t deliver
Peace, to you
When the drink’s in your soul
Can’t let go
See the warnings
But the brakes are too slow
As you hit the wall
Now you know the feelings
That you had once before
They soon go, fade away
Now the drink’s in his soul
And peace you find
In a state of mind
But the signs of the bottle still show
And just one more
Is the way you go
As your wrists
Slowly cut to the bone
